Next week we will have no spelling test and no homework packets. The children may have math, phonics and reading to complete on Monday and Tuesday only.

We will be having our holiday concert at Grace to the Nations on Wednesday, December 15th. We will be walking to Grace from LPA. We plan to leave after breakfast to start walking so we should be leaving around 8:45. We plan to start the concert around 9:15. It should last about an hour and then we will walk back to LPA. Please plan to walk with us or meet us at Grace. We have been practicing our song and we want you to hear us sing it!!!

Holiday party- your child may wear whatever he/she wants on Thursday, December 16th. We will be having a party in the afternoon. Please send in snacks to share.

Report cards: report cards will be going home on Friday, December 17th. School ends at 11:30 AM sharp. There is no lunch or after school program. Mark your calendars now so you are on time to get your child(ren).

Hello and welcome back to school after the long Thanksgiving break. I hope everyone had a nice holiday with their families. We only have 2 and half weeks until winter break and we have a lot to do!!!

We will be having a holiday concert at Grace to the Nations on Pima Rd. on Wednesday, December 15. Each class will sing a song on the stage. The time of the concert and what your child may wear will come as soon as I know the details of this exciting event!

Hi All:

Next week will be a short week with no homework or spelling test. We will be reviewing spelling words that we have learned over the past month.

The Thanksgiving feast will be Tuesday, November 23 during lunch time. The 2nd graders are being asked to bring in HOT READY TO EAT MASHED POTATOES. Please make some mashed potatoes and send them into school with your child. Please keep in mind we have about 650 students and about 40 staff members who need to eat that day! Your help is greatly appreciated!

Hello all,

Thank you to everyone who came to the Harvest Festival. It was so much fun!

Next week we will be closed on Thursday, November 11 for Veteran's Day. We will still have after school on Wednesday and we have a regular day of school with after school on Friday.

Hello!!!

This Friday, October 29th will be the harvest fest at our school from 6-8PM. There will be games, dunk tank, cupcake walk, jumping castle and more. Please plan to join us!!! My booth is the cupcake walk so I need cupcakes. Please buy a dozen store bought cupcakes and send them in with you child sometime this week.

The Harvest Festival will be Friday, October 29th from 6-8pm at LPA. We will be having games, food, face painting and much much more. Tickets are on sale now so please stop by the front office and get some. Your child may wear their Halloween outfits to harvest festival but not to school that day! My booth at the harvest festival is the cupcake walk so I need store bought cupcakes. Please buy some cupcakes and send them into school with your child. Thanks!

We are going on our first field trip THIS Monday, October 25th. Your child needs to bring a sack lunch that day as we will be eating lunch at the park after the pumpkin patch. We will leave school around 9 and return around 230. The kids are very excited!!!

Next week is a short week of school with No HOMEWORK and NO SPELLING TEST!!!!

I will be handing out report cards on Wednesday, October 13th. This is a short day with NO LUNCH OR AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM. School ends at 11:30 AM sharp. Please mark your calendars and plan to pick your child up on time this day. We will be closed for fall break on Thursday, October 14 and Friday, October 15. See you back at LPA on Monday, October 18.

We will be going on a field trip to Buckelew farms Monday, October 25 from 9-2:30. Your child will need to bring a sack lunch that day as we will be eating lunch at the park after the pumpkin patch. We will be taking the school bus and school vans but we need parents to come and help out. If you are interested then please contact me for the details. The cost is $6 per child and adult attending. Please send in ONLY cash, NO CHECKS!!! Thanks!!!

Next week we have a busy week. Wednesday, October 6th is dollar dress down day. Your child may come to school wearing whatever he/she wants as long as they pay me a dollar otherwise; they need to come to school in regular school uniform. If your child does not pay a dollar but dresses down anyway then they will be sent to the office to change into school uniform. Thursday, October 7th is the 40th day of school. This day is a HUGE funding day for LPA. Please make sure your child is here on time that day. We will be making candy corn necklaces with beads, we will be having a party and we will be dressing in our pj's that day!!!

Hello and welcome to the 2010-2011 school year. My name is Mrs. Fox and I will be your child's 2nd grade teacher. I have been teaching at La Paloma Academy since 2005therefore; this will be my 6th school year. I enjoying teaching and look forward to a fantastic school year.
Each week, usually around Thursday, I will post the next week's spelling words and any important inforamtion for the upcoming week on my blog. This same inforamtion will come home every Monday in your child's homework folder. The folder will contain the weekly letter (which lets you know if your child did his/her homework, changed their card, had lunch detnention and why and all important information for the upcoming week) and the weekly homework sheet which lists what your child is to do each night for homework. Along with the homework sheet will be the week's spelling words. I will give a spelling test every Friday along with a math and phonics test.

Next week is the last week of school. We will have no homework and no spelling test. We have many fun and exciting things going on this last week of school. Wednesday, we will be having our end of the year party. You are asked to bring in items for the kids to share. I will provide the drinks and the movie for the class as well as plates. Please send in something for the class to share. Thursday, we are having a game day in the morning and a field trip to Lucky Strike in the afternoon. Your child may bring in any board game or card game to share with the class. Remember to send your child with socks for bowling at Lucky Strike. Friday, is the last day of school and there is no after school or lunch. School ends at 11:30 AM. Mark your calendars now so you can be on time.

If your child has any UN-RETURNED library books they WILL NOT receive their report cards until the book is returned, paid for or replaced with a book of equal value!

Field day was a great success. The children had a terrific time getting wet and doing different outside activities.

Our field trip is scheduled for Thursday, May 27 from 12-3 PM. If you would like, you can meet us at Lucky Strike to help the kids with their shoes and bowling fun.

Last day of school is Friday, May 28. This is a half day with NO lunch or after school program. School ends at 11:30 AM. Mark your calendars now!!!

This Wednesday, May 12 is field day. Your child needs to wear sunscreen PRIOR to coming to school. They should also come to school in their bathing suits and bring a towel and a water bottle.

Last day of school is Friday, May 28th. That will be a half day with no lunch or after school program. The children will also receive their reports cards on this day.

May 12 will be field day. Your child may come to school with their bathing suits on with a shirt over their bathing suit. They need to bring a towel, water bottle, and have sunscreen on PRIOR to coming to school that day. We will be outside most of the morning and we do not want our kids to get burned!!! We also need oranges cut into quarters for the kids to eat! Please buy some, cut them up and send them in. Your help is greatly appreciated!

Welcome Back...

I hope everyone had a nice holiday break and is ready for the end of the school year. Next week, we will be having aims testing. Please make sure your child has plenty of rest the night before and comes to school with a full tummy. We will be serving breakfast at school like we do everyday but it is good idea to make sure your child has extra food in their bodies on testing days.

These are all words that the children have been tested on before. This is a review. Please make sure to help your child be successful on this test by studying these words with him/her so they will be ready for their spelling test on Friday.

AIMS TESTING: we need all 2nd graders to be here on time the week on April 12-16, 2010. Please make sure your child has plenty of rest and a good breakfast before they come to school each morning.

Hi All-

Next week we will have no homework and no spelling test. Next week is a short week with no school Thursday, Friday or Monday. We will be off so the kids can be home to celebrate Easter with their families. I hope everyone has a nice Easter break. I will see everyone back at LPA on Tuesday, April 6th. This will be our last break before summer vacation.

we will be having testing the week of April 12th. 2nd graders do take a test but it is not the AIMS test. We are required to test the 2nd graders and so it is very important that your student be at school this week and on time. Please make sure they have plenty of rest that week and that they eat a healthy breakfast before they arrive at school. We will still be serving breakfast but it is a good idea to make sure their tummies are full!!!

Grandparents day is this Wednesday, February 24th. We hope to see all of the grandparents that day for a western story, a fun-filled art activity and a BBQ cookout lunch!

Next week we have a short week since it is Rodeo Week in Tucson. Woohoo!!! we have no spelling test and no homework/reading log. The kids could use a break!

Grandparents day: Wednesday, Feb. 24th is grandparents day at our school. We would love to have all the grandparents join us as we hear a story, do an art project and eat a B-B-Q lunch. Also, pictures will be taken for $1.

We are closed on Thursday, Feb. 25 and Friday, Feb. 26 for Rodeo Break. See you all on Monday, March 1.

Also, you can get your child's picture taken with his/her grandparent(s) for $1. Please fill out the form and send in the $1 for the picture no later than February 19th.

Hi! We had a great day of school on the 100th day. The kids loved the fun-filled activities and the cook-out was great. It was a nice day for everyone!

Happy Monday! I hope everyone had a nice weekend. There are just a few things I wanted to remind you about.

We will be closed next Monday, January 18th for MLK Jr. Day. Next Friday, January 22 we will be having a father/daughter dance at LPA Lakeside. If you would like to eat and dance with your daughter, then please buy tickets at the front office.
