Harvest Festival will be held at LPA central on Friday, October 28 from 6-8. Tickets are now on sale. We will be having food, games, jumping castles and much more. When trying to decide whether to add -s or -es to a word here are two things to remember. Add -s to most words: girls and add -es to words that end in ch, sh, or x: lunches, dishes, boxes.

Hello All,

Welcome to the 2011-2012 school year! I am very excited to work with your child this year! I blog every week and I include our spelling words for the following week and information going on at LPA. If you have any questions or concerns, you can email me at foxj@comcast.net or call the school (520) 721- 4205 and leave a message for me and I will call you back as fast as I can.

The first two days of school we will be going over policies, rules and procedures. We will be doing a limited amount of work so I can slowly ease the children into 2nd grade. We will also be getting to know our new friends.

The first spelling test will be Friday, August 19. The spelling words are pay, play, for, fort, sing, spring, fat, flat, bed, bend, cap, camp. The spelling test will also have 3 or 4 bonus words each week. The bonus words are: band, brand, dive, drive. Please help your child study each week for the spelling test so they have be successful!

Hello-

The school is coming to a close!!! It has a been wonderful teaching your child this year and I look forward to seeing them around campus next year when they are in 3rd grade.

Just a few reminders about next week...

Monday, May 23rd- we are having a party with our 6th grade buddies. Ms Theis and I are providing cheese pizza and Eegee's for the children but we are asking that you bring in something to share. You can send cookies, chips, crackers, juice boxes, cheese, veggies, fruit etc. Keep in mind we have about 50 kids including the teachers.

Tuesday, May 24th- we are having a game day in the morning. Your child can bring in a game or blocks/legos to share with the class. Please send in games that the children can play easily with their friends. In the afternoon, we will be going to Lucky Strike from 12-3. We will be having pizza, soda and bowling for 1.5 hours!!!

Wednesday, May 25th- the last day of school. Reports cards will be handing out. There is no lunch or after school school program. School ends at 11:30AM!!!

Hello-

The school year is slowly winding down!!! Next week, we will be reviewing math, phonics and spelling. The children will have no homework and no spelling test.

The end of the year field trip is Tuesday, May 24th from 12-3pm. We are going to Lucky Strike and the permission slips came home earlier this week. Please send in the $7 and slip so your child can attend this fun field trip.

We will be having a party with our 6th grade buddies on Monday, May 23 in the afternoon. We will provide pizza and Eegee's for the kids but ask that you send in snacks to share. You may send chips, cookies, juice boxes, veggies, fruit etc. We have about 50 kids total with the 2 classes.

Mother/daughter dance is next Friday, May 6th from 6-8pm. It is a pajama event. The cost is $10 and it includes the meal, a picture and a few fun events. Tickets on sale now at the front office.

We have 2 field trips planned in May. One is Tuesday, May 10 to the U of A planetarium which is $5 a person. The other one is Tuesday, May 24 to Lucky Strike on Speedway which is $7 a child. We will be having spirit week starting next Wednesday and continuing the following week. The days are as followed: Wednesday- Jersey or sports day, Tuesday- Hippie day, Wednesday- Free dress down day, Thursday- PJ day and Friday- crazy hair/hat day. Your child may dress accordingly all of the days or only the ones he/she wants. If your child do not want to participate then he/she needs to come in regular school uniform.

We will be having our holiday concert at Grace to the Nations on Wednesday, December 15th. We will be walking to Grace from LPA. Hello!!!

This Friday, October 29th will be the harvest fest at our school from 6-8PM. There will be games, dunk tank, cupcake walk, jumping castle and more. Please plan to join us!!! I will be handing out report cards on Wednesday, October 13th. This is a short day with NO LUNCH OR AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM. School ends at 11:30 AM sharp.
